Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been won on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev claimed his first title for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a former world number one, has had a torrid year, managing just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and finally splitting with former mentor Cervara.

Presently working with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface since that period of 2023.

Success also means he has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is particularly special," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and regular reactions on the playing surface had caused observers to doubt if his ability to compete at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and compete aggressively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players traded break points in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his first professional victory, gained dominance to force a final set.

He saved four early-game break points in a tight third set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the title with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman unable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
